Biography
Founded by Gianni Oddi in 1991, "Ialsax Quartet" presents a musical journey in which the quartet takes the listener through the various rhythms of jazz, the strict form of classical music, and to the colours of "contemporary" music. "Ialsax quartet recorded the Cd "Contrasti" (CDS 072) for "Pentaphon" and has played many concerts and participated in many radio and television shows on Italian RAI and important foreign networks.
GIANNI ODDI studied the Piano with A. They and the Saxophone with A. Fusco and b- Maestri. He was the 1st Alto Sax of RAI's "Orchestra di Musica Leggera" in Rome for many years and taught Piano at the conservatory in Frosinone. He played as soloist in many soundtracks composed and conducted by Maestro Ennio Morricone and worked as a teacher at the "Biennio di Sassofono" at the Conservatory "S. Cecilia". He currently plays in Italy and abroad both as a soloist and with the P.M.J.O.
FILIBERTO PALERMINI received diplomas in Saxophone, Jazz Music and Electronic music at the Conservatory of Frosinone. He has participate din various festivals such as Clusone Jazz, Atina Jazz, Cantiere Internaz.dell'Arte, Barga Jazz, Pescara Jazz, Fadjr Music Festival (Teheran), Europa Festival. He also has a prestigious history of collaborations with artists such as P. Erskine, P. Daniellson, J. Newton, E. Colombo, E. Pieranunzi, G. Trovesi, S. Battaglia, S. Benni, J. Taylor, P. Damiani. He is currently professor of Jazz at the "G.B.Pergolesi" Conservatory in Fermo
ALESSANDRO TOMEI received his diploma in Saxophone with the highest possible marks at the Conservatory in Frosinone under the guidance of Maestro M. Bettazzi. He has collaborated with famous Jazz musicians such as T. De Piscopo, S. Di Battista, F. and D. Piana, P. Iodice, M. Corvini, R. Biseo, Cicci Santucci. He came in first in the "best emerging talent" category in the "S.Anna Arresi e Mentana" competition. He has recorded two albums as front-man "Subzero" and "Lavori in Corso".
MARCO GUIDOLOTTI received his diploma in Clarinet at the "A. Casella" conservatory in L'Aquila under Maestro D. Lanzara. He has played in the Nyons Jazz Festival, al Barga Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, and won the critics' prize at the M. Urbani" competition. He has collaborated with important artists such as R. Giuliani, S. Di Battista, P. and P. Iodice, M. and C. Corvini, E. Pieranunzi, G. Mirabassi, J, Girotto, T. De Piscopo.
PIETRO IODICE was born in Naples and moved to Rome in 1988 and quickly became an important drummer in the Italian Jazz scene. He plays in various Jazz clubs and Festivals (some examples are "YVP Record Festival" , "Tel Aviv Jazz fest", "Umbria Jazz", "Bergamo Jazz", "Jazz and Image" in Villa Celimontana (Rome) and "Calvi Jazz Festival" in Corsica) and he participated in many episodes of the radio programme "Radio 1 Jazz" (Radio RAI) with M.Urbani, F.Boltro, S.Sabatini, F.Puglisi and J.Faddis.
Along with Mario Corvini he formed the "Corvini & Iodice Roma Jazz Ensemble" which performs traditional and Italian jazz pieces. This Ensamble has played with important musicians such as Bob Mintzer, Jack Walrath, George Garzone and Dick Oatts and was mentioned in the famous "Down Beat" as "an orchestra with definite musical value in the Italan Jazz panorama".
