Biography

Born in Milan in 1973 Andrea grew up to obtain a degree in Philosophy and went on to study the Saxophone at the "Scuola Civica di Jazz" in Milan, where he was part of the saxophone section of the "Civica Jazz Band" (conducted by Maestro Enrico Intra). In 2006 he obtained a degree cum laude in Music with a specialisation in Jazz at the "Conservatiorio di Buzzola" in Adria (RO).

Andrea has had innumerable collaborations as well as attending courses and seminars which have made his curriculum a lot more than just "interesting". Just to name a few, he has taken part in courses in Siena and Nuoro Jazz; he has collaborated on a project with the "Orchestra Sinfonica Arturo Toscanini" in Parma (conducted by Maestro Paolo Silvestri) and he played in the "Jazz Mirror Saxophone Quartet".

With regard to easy listening music, he has collaborated with various singer/songwriters, such as Claudio Lolli, Mirco Menna and, since 2005, he has been part of Andrea Mingardi's band.

He currently lives in Bologna and plays in several Jazz bands: "Blue Midnight Orchestra" (a band that plays '30's and '40's swing); "The Swingers Orchestra" (a group with various repetoires); Giorgio Casadei's "Orchestra Spaziale"; he has an ongoing collaboration with the "Village Big Band" and the "Alma Jazz Orchestra" (with whom he played at the Umbria Jazz Festival in 2004).
He teaches Saxophone at the "Music Academy 2000" in Bologna and in Cerretolo di Casalecchio (BO), where he formed the "Bidibop big band", an orchestra which he personally conducts and for which he writes the music. Furthermore, he works on music education projects in several elementary schools in the province of Bologna.

As far as recording is concerned, Andrea has recorded as a side-man for different labels, such as Soul Note, Alma entertainment, Slide, Storie di note, L'Isola che non c'era and most recently, J-Digital, the label with his first own-name album: "Volo Notturno".
